Hornby Dublo section disbanded in 2007 - see News
|
Creating a pre 1956 layout is an act of pure nostalgia. The layout is
designed to put as much track and stock on the converted table tennis table
as possible. This isn't about 'modelling' in the accepted sense of the word;
it is designed to lead people into saying "I had one of those!" If club
members' reactions are anything to go by, this is exactly what will happen.

|
Old three rail Hornby Dublo was, however, never designed to appear on large,
mobile displays and there has been a lot of head scratching to get round
some of the problems involved.
|
|
For example, how do you make tin plate track
that's been screwed down go across the gap in the two boards and still have
some sort of electrical connection? The other headache has been getting
enough components to create an expansive layout. Platforms, isolating rails,
electrically operated points - long live eBay!
|
At the time of writing (August 2006) track wiring is now complete and it is
time to create the control table. As a section of just one member, the
extensive help of other section members has been more than gratefully
received. Fancy getting involved in Antiques?
